social pluginsAnyone who owns a WordPress based site or blog needs to take advantage of the various social plugins available.  It doesn’t matter whether your site is for commercial purposes or not. Because if you’re not utilizing social plugins you are potential losing loads of traffic to your web property.  We will be giving you a brief overview of four of the most popular social plugins you may want to consider installing.

First up is the Social Media Widget for WordPress.  This is a simple to use multi-faceted social plugin that goes along the sidebar.  With this widget users are able to put in all the details along with URL’s of their social media profiles.  When visitors click on the link they will be taken to the respective URL’s by way of a separate browser window opening up.  This plugin supports dozens of various social media websites and is available in various icon sizes.

Next up is Shareaholic.  This is a very attractive social plugin allows the user to present a good looking social bookmarking menu along with whatever other content relates to pages, posts or your site’s index or even a mix of all three if you choose.  This plugin is strong on things such as analytics and recommendations for content that is similar throughout your site or blog.  Shareaholic is very popular with countless publishers and has a reach in the hundreds of millions.

Then we have the AddThis plugin for WordPress.  This plugin is fantastic for getting traffic to your site.  This is done by allowing sharing of the site’s content on over 300 of the most visited bookmarking and social networking properties.  Another really neat thing about AddThis is that users are allowed – free – to observe exactly how their site’s visitors are sharing content.  This is great for finding out what is working and in some cases what isn’t.

Last but not least there’s the Sharebar WordPress plugin.  This widget can be completely customized and is presented in a vertical box on the left of blog posts.  This plugin has buttons that link to the more popular networking sites on the web.  Sharebar can also be used in a horizontal fashion.  A noticeable difference between both versions is that with the vertical box the buttons will be larger, while with the horizontal they will be small ones.

The long and the short of it is that in order to maximize the full potential of your WordPress properties, you must utilize some type of social medial plugin.  Look into the four just mentioned and we’re sure you will find one that works well for your particular situation.
